Growth

UMSHC has seen an increased number of graduate students being admitted, which allows us to extend our services to more off-campus sites, including Oxford University School, Regents School of Oxford, screenings at HeadStart Centers in Ashland and Hickory Flat, speech pathology practices in Greenwood, Oxford and Lafayette County Schools, and more. UMSHC has also collaborated with the cleft palate team and new autism center in Tupelo

The Speech and Hearing Center has seen growth in the number of students seeking services over the past few months, indicating a growing awareness of the services offered by the clinic.

Collaborations

We have collaborated with different schools and departments, with guest lectures in dietetics and invitations to dietetics’ pureed food labs. Our faculty members have worked with School of Engineering students to develop tactile feedback devices for the treatment of stuttering.

Media Productions made a “social situation” video of use to our clients on the autistic spectrum. It can be downloaded for iPhones and iPod Touches.

The audiology clinic participates in many health fairs in the area to conduct hearing screenings and promote awareness of hearing health. They also reach out to local assisted living homes to service hearing aids. If you would like us to visit your organization, please contact us.
